EMAS environmental management certification

EmasEU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme, is a certification by environmental management which, at European level, rates companies in terms of environmental performance.

In Europe there is a Environmental Management System (EMS) that allows evaluate e improve the performance environmental of companies that, by following the EMAS regulation, can obtain registration as EMAS-certified companies.

The intrinsic objective of this certification is thecommitment company to reduce its own impact environmentalconsumption of energy e water up to the production of waste.
EMAS applies to many environmental aspects such as energy efficiency, use of hazardous substances, air and water pollution, and waste management. All of this has a strong impact on a company's organisation, as it implies a concrete commitment to the management of all production and non-production phases, making it possible to choose eco-design rather than participating in green public procurement and choosing green finance.

In Italy it is issued by the competent body, i.e. the Ministry of Ecological Transition, which provides all the specifications required to be registered EMAS, namely:

- Legal compliance to all environmental legislation

- Publication of key environmental data in an annual report, the environmental statement

- Determine the organisational context of their environmental management system (EMS), identifying the interested parties (employees, shareholders, suppliers, etc.).

- Consider a perspective of the product life cycle when assessing the importance of environmental impacts

- Determine the risks and the opportunities related to its EMS.
